Nice introductory post! I had a similar situation joining Gateway Computers at 19 years old and similar starting salary. Great progress. By the way, I got here by the substack office hours post - I write about leadership.

Thanks Justin!

That's pretty cool, I love hearing stories of people starting early with eagerness and finding ways to keep pressing forward! If you don't mind me asking, what were you hired to do when you first joined Gateway and how have you progressed along the path since then?

I checked out the post about your 'Now, Next, and Later' exercise. That's a powerful one. I run a similar exercise on myself every 3-6 months. Stepping back for a few days and looking at the big picture helps me return to my team with clarity, redirecting our focus if necessary, and staying prepared for work that may be coming down the pike.

Good question, hired as sales guy, promoted to sales manager, then opened 3 stores and trained 40 reps, offered store manager before 21, instead of accepting store manager, i had been building up a web company as side hustle so focused on that as my first startup, it morphed into an e-commerce platform and I exited in 2005 before shopify and bigcommerce took off. Ended up doing leadership on midsize and fortune 500 companies, now at 45 doing my own startup again in proptech.

Sounds like one wild and exciting ride!

I'd love to hear more about the proptech company you're building now, and understand more about your exit in 2005. Is there a website we can visit to learn more about the proptech comp?
